Prescription for Tough Economic Times: Partnership Offers Help to Small Contractors

Local Contracts = Local Hires

American Community Partnerships (ACP), Broadlands Financial Group, Latin American Economic Development Association, and the New Jersey Chapter of the National Association of Minority Contractors, are pleased to announce the development of a new specialized training program designed to provide small contractors with the critical tools and funds needed to succeed in the construction industry.

The first of its kind in the Delaware River Valley Region, this regional partnership combines training, bonding and timely infusion of capital to assist small contractors in the industry at this critical time of need.  Offered in conjunction with the United States Department of Health and Human Services (USHHS), the training will be offered free of charge to participating small contractors over a 12-week period designed to provide greater capacity for the benefit of construction users and owners, as well as contractors in the industry.

Because small contractors are the engine of local community and economic development and severely affected by the declining number of dollars being spent in the construction industry, it is more important than ever to support local contractors who, in turn, employ and sustain a greater proportion of local workers than do larger, non-resident contractors.  Simply put, local contractors = local jobs.
